THE BEST SOAPS FOR BABIES: WHAT ARE BABY-SAFE INGREDIENTS?

When it comes to your baby’s soap, the simpler the ingredients, the better. All-natura ingredients will keep your baby’s skin softer, and irritation-free.

So what should you look for? Look for all-natural baby soap containing ingredients like the ones listed below.

  1. Natural orange wax
Pure & Gentle’s baby hair shampoo contains natural orange wax, which is proven to enhance SPF protection with sunscreens.

  2. Olive oil
Olive oil is a natural moisturizer and cleanser. It can be a particularly beneficial ingredient if your baby has been suffering from dry skin.

  3. Shea butter
This oil produces a creamy lather, absorbs into the skin relatively easily, and is a great moisturizer.

  4. Colloidal oatmeal
Collidial oatmeal does it all: it has moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and cleansing properties. It’s also a very mild exfoliate and is known to help reduce itchiness.

  5. Cocoa butter
Cocoa butter is often used in skin lotions, but it’s also a great moisturizer when included in natural soaps. It also has a mild, pleasant scent—no synthetic fragrances necessary!

  6. Coconut oil
Coconut oil is anti-bacterial without containing any of the harsh chemicals that often appear in soaps marketed as “anti-bacterial.” It also contains antioxidants that promote skin health, has a pleasant and mild tropical scent, and easily absorbs into the skin.

  7. Organic palm oil
This oil is often used to give natural bars of soap their hardness and balance the lathering that comes from coconut oil.

This is by no means a definitive list of all baby-safe soap ingredients. In general, look for soaps with natural ingredients and no dyes, fragrances, sulfates, parabens, or formaldehyde in order to ensure your baby has a happy and healthy bath time.
